Get Your Breakfast Fix at Rokaru Shabu Shabu

Updated: May 2, 2018

Just when you thought your weekends couldn’t get any better, they just did. Rokaru Shabu Shabu in Pearl City is now serving breakfast. Get ready to rise and grind every Saturday and Sunday 7-10 a.m.

“We really enjoy breakfast and wanted to share our favorite creations with our diners,” said Reid Wantanabe, one of the owners.

Reid worked along side Rokaru Shabu Shabu Co-Owner Mark Ishii to come up with the mouthwatering menu that highlights local produce and meats. The two them put a lot of time, effort and heart into the final menu.

“We spent about six months testing the dishes and coming up with exactly what we want to serve on the menu,” explained Wantanabe.

Hungry for more? Here’s what you can find on the menu.

Five fancy signature dishes, including Azuki Strawberry filled French toast, a huge bowl of saimin with great garnishes (arabiki sausage, enoki mushrooms and fish cake to name a few), a locally sourced loco moco, chicken & waffles and oxtail benedict.

“The oxtail benedict is my favorite,” said Ishii. “The oxtail is super moist and the meat we use basically falls right off the bone.”

“My favorite would have to be the Azuki Strawberry French Toast,” said Wantanabe.

The dish is creamy Azuki beans sandwiched between two slices of Hawaiian sweet bread, dazzled with powdered sugar and complete with whipped cream and fresh 🍓strawberries.

The menu doesn’t stop at the five signature dishes. You can create your own Rokaru Combination Breakfast, which comes with two eggs (any style), rice or fried rice and bowl of miso soup. Then, you can choose from two up to four sides. Sides include a half of a papaya, portaguese sausage, bacon, homemade corned beef hash, natto, steak, spam, asparagus with hollandaise, catch of the day and more.

Rokaru Shabu Shabu is located in the Pearl City Gateway Shopping Center, near David’s Bridal. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner Monday- Friday 11 a.m. - 10 p.m. and on the weekends for breakfast 7- 10 a.m. and lunch and dinner 11 a.m. - 10 p.m.
